Team GIMLISOFT (Partner ORACLE AB) wins WOW Iron Chef of Web Services Challenge at COMDEX Sweden
Gothenburg, Sweden January 21, 2004
The World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) announces that team Gimlisoft (Partner of Oracle AB), wins the WOW Iron Chef of Web Services Challenge in Gothenburg at the COMDEX Sweden 2004 conference.
The two man team of Daniel Carlsson and Christofer Edvardsen produced the overall winning Web Service Application.
Team Novell came in at a very close second place in the overall category with BEA in third place. Team Novell was awarded first place in the special category of Application Appeal.
The high profile competition was hosted by the WOW in partnership with COMDEX Sweden. Four other Scandinavia based contestants, chosen from more than two dozen organizations from the region, also participated in the competition. A panel of five experts selected from the local Web professional community based their findings on the following criteria developed by WOW:
- 25% Application Appeal
- 25% Quality of Tools
- 10% Quality of Code
- 10% System Maintenance
- 10% System Performance
- 15% Cost Effectiveness
- 5% Audience Experience
In making the announcement, Bill Cullifer, WOW’s Executive Director and event organizer said, “The goal of the event was to educate Web professionals and consumers alike about the value and availability of Web services.

WOW’s participation at COMDEX Sweden marks a major milestone in efforts to set education and certification standards for Web professionals worldwide. WOW's Web education and certification standards were developed in conjunction with and are supported by leaders from the computer industry, including Cisco Systems and Adobe, in addition to the U.S. government. This initiative was made possible in part by a $1.4 million federal grant that WOW received in September 2000 in collaboration with Prentice Hall Publishing Company, the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) and the University of Washington to create educational resources and standards for Web professionals worldwide.
