Team Montebello Unified School District Wins WOW Iron Chef of Web Design Challenge at TECHED Ontario
Ontario, California - March 24, 2004
The World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) announces that team Montebello Unified School District won the First Annual WOW Iron Chef of Web Design Challenge in Ontario, CA at the Community College Conference TechEd 2004 conference.

The three person team of Patrick Gittisriboongul, and Robert Rinehart and Grace Walker produced the overall winning website.
The high profile competition was hosted by the WOW in partnership with TechEd Ontario. Two other Southern California teams, chosen from academic institutions from the region, also participated in the competition. A panel of four experts selected from the education Web professional community based their winning scores on the following criteria developed by WOW:
- 25% Design Appeal
- 25% Quality of Markup and Code
- 10% Accessibility
- 10% Usability
- 10% Contestant Presentation
- 10% Audience Experience
- 10% Web Site Optimization
Additional teams represented at WOW’s Iron Chef of Web Design Challenge include:

The esteem panels of judges selected by WOW at the show were:

- Mia Allen, Webmaster-Cowley College
- Jason Jennings, Lab Manager-Upland Christian Schools
- Tim Paul, WOW Certified Web Designer-Montana State University
- Robert Shields, Director of Instructional Technology and Webmaster-California Baptist University
WOW’s participation at TechEd Ontario marks a major milestone in efforts to set education and certification standards for Web professionals worldwide. WOW's Web education and certification standards were developed in conjunction with and are supported by leaders from the computer industry, including Cisco Systems and Adobe, in addition to the U.S. government. This initiative was made possible in part by a $1.4 million federal grant that WOW received in September 2000 in collaboration with Prentice Hall Publishing Company, the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) and the University of Washington to create educational resources and standards for Web professionals worldwide.
