"Whatever we possess becomes of double value When we have the opportunity of sharing it with others."
-- French author Jean-Nicolas Bouilly(1763-1842)
We Web professionals have much to share and offer others. All we have to do is do it. We also need to stick together and stand up for ourselves. As a professional association, WOW supports its members and the Web profession in general.
We are working hard to set a minimal baseline knowledge standard for Web professionals worldwide. Through efforts such as our Web Professional Articulation Initiative, http://www.webprofessionals.org/articulation/, WOW is developing an agreement that will help establish a national standard for Web professional education and training. The establishment of such an agreement will enable students seeking a degree in the Web profession to transfer technology course credits from high school to a community college, state college or university.
So big deal. Why should you care? Because creating standards for Web professionals will lead to higher compensation, job recognition, higher job satisfaction, and the ability to effectively communicate to your human resource people and others who do the hiring the complexities of your job.

You wouldn’t go out in the rain without covering up. You wouldn’t spend a day in the sun without sunscreen. And you wouldn’t drive without wearing a seat belt. Similarly, you wouldn’t enter into a freelance situation without a contract.
